As an entreprenuer in Greenville myself, I can resonate with anyone who wants to come here to open a business. I can also offer some advice. If you're thinking of moving to Greenville and one day realizing the dream of opening a business, please contact me!
The first thing you'll want to do if you're looking to open a service business in Greenville is to get fully licensed. Even though we are Realtors, we can point you in the right direction no matter what type of business you will run. If you're in the city of Greenville or Mauldin (or any other municipality) you'll most likely need to get a business license. As a general rule, county businesses do not need a county license, though this can vary.
Another good resource for an up-and-coming business owner is the Greenville Chamber of Commerce. Mauldin also has a good Chamber for those in that area. I joined the Chamber first in 2005 and have been a member ever since. The Greenville Chamber is as good as you make it. It will *not* benefit you if you don't attend events, so if you plan on joining be sure to block out some time each week for the various events hosted around town. My favorites:
- Business Before Hours at the Commerce Club
- Business After Hours
As I attend more I will update this list.
Greenville's economy is robust and there are many types of service businesses that can flourish here. If you have any specific questions please let us know and we'll get you the answer!
