Discover Greenville South Carolina
Greenville's economy remains robust in 2009, with new industrial development announced regularly. While South Carolina as a whole has one of the highest levels of unemployment in the US, the Upstate's economy is immune to many of the troubles that plague the rest of the state.
Several things work to the advantage of the Upstate. First and foremost, our people are hardworking, independent-minded folks with good work ethic. BMW recognized this when they located their North American manufacturing division here. Samsung just broke ground on a new customer service facility that may employ up to 900 people right here in the Mauldin/Simpsonville area.
Greenville's housing prices are affordable, yet not the cheapest in the country. Because incomes here are higher, housing is a bit higher than some other parts of the country, yet still more affordable than even nearby cities like Atlanta and Charlotte.
